Colin has held the LSC/Legal Aid Agency housing law supervisor accreditation since 1997.  He has advised on and litigated cases including defended possession actions of all types, disrepair claims, unlawful eviction remedies and statutory appeal/judicial review of local authority homelessness decisions.

Since 2004 Colin has worked for Citizens Advice bureaux as a specialist housing solicitor and has been the duty solicitor at his local County Courts.  He remains committed to representing vulnerable tenants and continues to do so on a part-time basis across Cumbria and North Lancashire.  His reported cases include:

Wilson v Central Sunderland Housing Company [2002] EWCA Civ 4

– status of human rights defences in possession actions against non-secure tenants.

R (Q & Others) v. Secretary of State for the Home Department [2003] EWCA Civ 364

– successful challenge to policy of refusing support to in-country asylum seekers.
